Window coverings. An important piece to your spaces design that also serves a purpose... PRIVACY!
But which type of window covering should you place where? Here I'm going to give my perspective on my personal favorites and go to styles.
Windows in the living room, bedroom and office can all have drapery or curtains for more of an interior design esthetic. Drapery is usually a thicker fabric where curtains are often more sheer. In either case, they're both are easy to change out, giving your room a new look whether it’s a new pattern or color no different than changing an area rug out.

But how much drape should drape? This question has been up for debate for quite some time and it’s really all about personal preference. I prefer the full ceiling to floor look. This look elongates your walls to give them a taller feel which then give your space a larger feel.

Windows in the bathroom or over a kitchen sink are more difficult to have drapery or curtains due to water or the space in which the curtain will hang over. It's difficult to have curtains or drapery over a kitchen sink since they will fall and lay over your sink. In this case, just blinds would suffice. Blinds also allow you pull them down part of the way and still allow some light to come into your space.
I really like the cordless cellular blinds from Menards. (I linked the picture above to there website for reference.)
Most of the time they have stock sizes that will work for most of the windows in your home which is nice not having to get them cut down in width to fit. They also come in a few different colors. They're easy to install and easy to pull down or push back up without the cord dangling down.
Besides privacy, it's also important to have window coverings if you have real wood floors. The sun coming in on them can fade the finish overtime. Its best when you're not home enjoying that natural light coming in, to make sure those blinds or drapes are closed protecting those beautiful floors.
Lastly, when selling your home, it's the norm to leave your window treatments in the home when you sell. The thought process is that the windows in your next home may not be the same size, so leave the current ones for the next person. However, curtains and drapes can fit almost any window... Make sure you take down the ones you want to keep before you list the home for sale ☺
